Minimum Order Requirements

Updated by Alex

For certain types of print processes there are minimum order requirements for the below reasons:

  • The cost for producing 1 copy may be very similar to producing 50 as the only variable is the material cost
  • The set up cost may be expensive because of the time involved in producing the first sheet off the press
  • The process requires time as well as materials to set up which may also be wasteful in raw materials
  • Metal or polymer dies may be required for particular printing processes, such as copper dies for engraving
  • There may be a large amount of manual work involved like cutting, folding, sticking etc and this can require several attempts to get right
  • The art working may be time consuming and spread across a large quantity this cost is less noticeable
